WHY PUGLIA?
Puglia is one of Italy´s most stunning regions and one of its best well kept secrets. It remains largely untouched and has retained its original charms and traditions.
Puglia is steeped in history reaching back to pre-historic times. Explore Lecce with its stunning baroque architecture and the narrow white alleys of the hill top towns of Martina Franca, Cisternino and Ostuni and all the numerous trattorias, ristorantes and bars tucked away in hidden alleys and along steep whitewashed steps.
Surrounded by kilometres of beautiful sandy beaches and rocky coves, Puglia offers crystal clear water for swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing and wind-/surfing. The tranquil setting of olive groves and views over hill top towns invite walking, cycling, horse riding, playing golf or just enjoying the stillness and peace and quiet of the landscape.
Puglia is renowned for its locally grown fresh vegetables and fruit available all year round and the fish caught fresh every day. There are weekly food and vegetable markets in Ostuni, Cisternino and Martina Franca selling every possible local and regional delicacy.
These markets are a delight for anyone keen to taste the full array of local fresh produce. To round off there are the excellent Pugliese wines for example the full bodied red wines produced from the negroamaro and the primitivo grapes and one can spend days and days discovering and exploring the numerous vineyards tucked away up country lanes.
